Oooo, it’s getting exciting! Not long till Father Christmas makes his annual visit and plenty of wrapping paper ripping (say that fast three times!) fun ensues! (Perhaps a tad too giddy? It’s not even December yet!!!! – Ed). Well, taking the build up to the yuletide merriment down just a notch or two, we, The Maniacs, have got a busy festive fortnight on the horizon.
Our pre-Christmas gig at The Two Brewers on
Saturday 20 December could be a somewhat alternative affair musically as
Marco is travelling back from some far flung holiday destination and aiming
to get to the gig via ferry from Europe – now that’s what we call
dedication. We are seriously considering running a book on whether he makes
it or not! While there’s no chance of any of us covering his sax parts,
should industrial maritime action ensue, Jane will be attempting some of the
vocals normally in Marco’s domain (and vox register!)… now that alone could
be worth stopping by to see! If that’s not good enough, the threat to
perform a couple of Christmas numbers remains, much to Andy “Bah-Humbug”
Jones’s chagrin.
This will be closely followed by our New Year’s Eve gig at
Coulsdon Manor Hotel & Golf Club. We’ve a feeling it will be something
special to all be together as a band at midnight to see in 2009; however,
there’s also the outside chance that we could kill each other before Big
Ben’s final peal!
On a slightly serious note (only slightly!), we’re already fielding
enquiries for next year, and December is a renowned time for block bookings
from our regular haunts for the next 12 months. So if you’ve got an event
that you think could do with The Maniacs touch, it’s probably best to sound
us out sooner rather than later via
info@themaniacs.co.uk.
